SoundDock™ Classic Digital Music System
Does the SoundDock™ system charge my iPod?
Yes. The SoundDock™ system charges your iPod while it is in the docking cradle.
Can the SoundDock™ system be used with other portable digital audio?
No. The SoundDock™ system was designed specifically to enhance the functionality of the iPod and to integrate seamlessly with the iPod docking connector and controls.
Is there an auxiliary input for connecting another audio source?
No. The SoundDock™ system was designed to easily “dock and play”, and connect only with the iPod through the built-in docking cradle. No other inputs are provided.
How do I know if my iPod is compatible with the SoundDock™ system?
The SoundDock system works with iPod mini, and third generation and newer iPod. A compatible iPod has a docking connector on the bottom.
Can I control my iPod® while it is docked in the SoundDock system?
Yes. There are two ways to control the iPod while it is docked in the SoundDock™ system. From almost anywhere in the room, you can use the handy SoundDock™ IR remote control to select Next Track, Previous Track, Play, Pause and Off.
Use the remote to adjust the SoundDock™ system’s volume, too. If you prefer, you can also use the iPod buttons and scroll wheel as usual. And you can adjust the volume on the SoundDock™ system.
Acoustimass® 3 Series IV Stereo Speaker System
Where do I put the bass module?
The Bass module incorporates the Bose patented Acoustimass technology. The module produces only those frequencies that your ears cannot localize, hence it makes it possible for us to keep the module anywhere in the listening area.
That could be behind the sofa/ under the bed or table behind the curtain anywhere out of sight or right next to the system as you may choose.
No matter where you place it you will feel the sound to be coming from the tiny speakers that are visible.
Can I put it in a cabinet or entertainment centre?
A closed cabinet is not recommended as there is a port on the module that needs to stay essentially uncovered for the sound to come out.
What kind of amplifier is it compatible with?
You can use any receiver that gives out an amplification of 10-100 watts per channel and supports an impendence of 4 to 8 ohms.
How do I hook it up?
The cables from the cubes terminate at the back of the bass module - the right speaker wires in the slot marked right & left speaker wires in the slot marked left.
Another set of wires need to run from the audio in of the bass module to the audio out of the amplifier.
Can I add additional cubes to this system?
These are stereo speaker systems, can be used for the pleasure of enjoying music or maybe used as the front or rear channels for the home theatre system. But additional speakers cannot be added to them.
301® Series V Direct /Reflecting® Speaker System
Are Bose Direct/Reflecting® speakers placement-sensitive?
Different placement conditions affect the spatial characteristics of Direct/Reflecting speakers, they are designed to perform well in a variety of locations. For optimal sound reproduction follow these guidelines:
•Place the speakers 4 to 12’ apart•Leave at least 12” of space from the speakers to the floor or ceiling•Leave at least 24” from the speakers to any TV screens or monitors•Keep the back of the speakers within 18” of the wall behind them•Do not place the speakers exactly halfway between the floor & ceiling or other reflecting surface•Do not put the speakers in a vertical position
What is the advantage of Stereo Everywhere® speaker technology?
Performance in your own home. The “actual performance” can be an orchestra in one of the world’s greatest symphony halls, or the latest blockbuster movie played in a state-of-the-art surround sound movie theatre. The sensation of almost “being there” is the same.
If the new 201® and 301® Series V speakers are positioned for stereo or home theatre use, why aren’t they shielded?
For spatial considerations, the new 201 and 301 speakers provide the best home theatre and stereo experience if placed 4 to 12 feet apart.
Therefore, the requirement that the speakers be placed at least 24 inches from a TV screen or monitor puts them far enough away from interfering with the TV picture and at a distance optimal for a spacious reproduction of stereo or home theatre.
I have heard that the 201® and 301® speakers are “voice matched” with other Bose speakers like the VCS-10™, 161™speakers. What does this term mean?
The term “voice-matched” refers to speakers that have a similar timbre or tonal quality.
Do Bose Direct/Reflecting® speakers work well in a video system?
While different placement conditions affect the spatial characteristics of Direct/Reflecting speakers, they have been designed to perform well in a wide variety of locations. Speakers in quality cinema are placed around the perimeter of the audience, so that sound reaches the listener from all angles, creating a feeling of being in the midst of the on-screen action. These Direct/Reflecting speakers in a home theatre set up re-creates this sense of envelopment with fewer speakers, re-creating the spacious sensation of the cinema experience.

Acoustimass® 5 Series III Stereo Speaker System
Where do I put the bass module?
The Bass module incorporates the Bose patented Acoustimass technology. The module produces only those frequencies that your ears cannot localize, hence it makes it possible for us to keep the module anywhere in the listening area.
That could be behind the sofa/ under the bed or table behind the curtain anywhere out of sight or right next to the system as you may choose.
No matter where you place it you will feel the sound to come from the tiny speakers that are visible.

Most of our lifestyle systems offer a second zone expansion option. By picking up this speaker system along with an amplifier you can easily expand music to another room in your home.

I am sorry it is not possible to connect the LFE output of the receiver to the Acoustimass module.
How will the Acoustimass 5 improve the sound of my existing system, when I use them instead of the original speakers that were a part of my system?
The speakers incorporate the Direct/Reflecting technology that not only ensures you get a stereo sound throughout the listening area and not just the sweet spot as in the case of conventional speakers, but also deliver a richer and lifelike performance.
The Acoustimass technology helps deliver rich pure bass with no audible distortion. Also gives the added advantage of placing the bass module anywhere in the listening area and not essentially next to the speakers
How can I find out, if these speakers are compatible with my system? Where do I look for the necessary information?
Please refer to your system's manual, at the back there will be a place where they mention system specifications.
