Using Recovery mode

Your product has a Recovery mode, which can help in cases where it becomes unresponsive. This process should only be used to restore operation of a speaker or amplifier that has become inoperable during or immediately following an update. System settings may be lost during this process.

IMPORTANT: This process should not be used if the speaker was just restored to its factory default settings. Restoring the speaker to its factory settings removes any stored Wi-Fi network credentials which are needed for the Recovery mode to complete.

To enter Recovery mode:

  1. Disconnect the amplifier from power and wait 30 seconds.
  2. On the back of the amplifier, press and hold the Reset button.
  3. While holding the Reset button, reconnect the amplifier to power.
  4. Wait one second then release the Reset button.

Things to know about this process

  • The status light on the back of the amplifier will blink an alternating red-and-white pattern to indicate the speaker has entered recovery mode. The amplifier will then try to download and install the latest update. The LED will slowly blink white while downloading the update and then quickly blink white while installing it. This can take several minutes (often around 20 minutes). When the status light turns off, open the Bose app and add the amplifier to your account.
  • If a red light appears, the amplifer needs service.
